WNHGA Corena Green Classic
for Junior Girls
Tuesday, July 26th, 2011 proved to be a beautiful day at Brookside Country Club in
Stockton. The weather was perfect; the girls were happy and ready to play. The Brookside G.O.L.D. Niners served as gracious hosts and your WNHGA Directors could not have been more pleased.
We had 50 girls in the 8-13 age group and 51 in the 14-17 age group, 101 girls total,
participated in the event. The Red, White, and Blue theme was carried out from the table decorations to the tee prizes to the wrapping on the prizes. Markers and Spotters from 14 WNHGA Clubs provided the glue that made the event so successful. It truly does “take a Village” to put on this tournament – all volunteers and all donated funds.
Due to the donations from the WNHGA Member Clubs as well as from Corena Greens'
family (letter), we were able to award $5,200 in college gift certificates to our top 13 winners. In
addition, we awarded prizes to the top four players in each age group as well as the top players in the 8-10 year old division and the 11-13 year old division.
Each participant received a backpack with a head cover, a sleeve of balls, a golf towel, and a rules bag tag – all in keeping with the red, white, and blue theme. Our hope is that the girls left Brookside Country Club feeling honored and respected as golfers.
